Julia Simon, Professor of French Language and Literature, has a number of passions - including one of America's native-born musical genres, the Blues. She not only has studied it assiduously as one would expect from a scholar of her caliber, she has also immersed herself into the Blues music scene, performing as vocalist and bassist. For years she has taught the popular Humanities course, "Cultural History of the Blues," which is again being offered this Fall Quarter (so keep that in mind when Pass 2 of Fall Quarter registration comes up!). Although already educating students about the Blues music genre in the classroom, it was suggested to her that she could do more to share her love and knowledge of this treasured part of our nation's heritage and so was born her podcast, "Blues on My Mind."
